[info]sunnydaleosi comm / [info]osiooc ooc comm / [info]arcology Lab Arc news and updates

Now's the time to join [info]sunnydaleosi if you are looking to get in on a good plot! Our Blood Rush plot is just starting - when a vampiric sorority takes up residence on the UCSD campus, can the OSI Initiative ferret them out before they meet-and-eat the student body?

YOUR characters and their actions affect the world, the way it should be, so come and be a part of the plot!

Current Wants:
Initiative members (canon or original) are especially wanted for this plot, particularly those of college age who live in the OSI campus house. We could also use some regular college students and professor.

We'd also love to see the following canons:
Riley
Giles
Cordelia
Oz
Angel

check here for the full list

and any quality originals! Come join us

Summary:
The year is 1998 - a government agency named OSI (think Initiative + Watchers Council) has control of the Hellmouth area in Sunnydale, California. The events of the the Buffy series never happened, but the mythology is the same. Join a world full of intrigues and plots, new twists on old canon favorites, and dynamic original characters! All we're missing is YOU. Friendly mods, excellent players, plots, storylines, character development questions, character spotlights, live chats, and more!

What we don't have:
We don't have drama, Mary Sues, post length requirements, purple prose, set 'ships', controlling mods, or pre-planned plot outcomes.

Don't know the Buffyverse? No problem! Since we're not following the events of the actual series, you don't need to know the show well to play.

Original characters very welcome!

You. You and I played once. It was when I first joined and you were 'feeling active.' As it turns out, you like to dissapear for months at a time, citing anything from mysterious illnesses to 'lack of muse.'

Whatever. Happens, and I've given up bitching. If that's the way you play, then cool. It's not the way I play. I'm an RP nut. I lack an RL, so I play.

You have people to play with on this site. Quite a few of them are your RL friends and have jumped all over me for wondering in annoyance why you dissapear so much. So I figured you were covered and found my own little group of overactive players. My characters have moved on from the scene we did together lo those many months ago and are now embroiled in some other shit.

So please, when you come online for your thrice-yearly RP fix, go find someone else. Stop popping up to IM me like we're best pals and just a week or so has gone by, instead of four to five months. I am not here to be turned on and off at your convenience. I do not play by your schedule. I do am not a toy you can pull out of the closet and wind up whenever the mood happens to strike you. I am not your friend. I am not your partner. I am a ship that has passed you in the night and has moved on.

For the love of God, I do not revolve around your time, your muse, or anything to do with you. We do not get along. I do not like you. Leave me alone, because I do not want to start another storyline with you just so I can be shanghied in the middle of it while you go 'find your muse' for another six months. There are people willing to play like that. I'm not one.

Goodbye.

You know, when you write this: "she hides her eyes from those around her. Picked up a napkin at the bar and whiped off the red lipstick. She never wore the stuff before and felt a little slutty wearing it . "

After writing this: "winks at [Innocent Bystander] and heads upstairs for a moment . Leaving her mug of heavy spirits on teh bar. She changes iotu of knickers and tunic top. OH what was going to become of the innocent [Player Name]. She walks downstairs dressed in a pair of 9 inch stelleto high heals. IN black.. she also wore a knee lenght black skirt and a bodice that was clasped down the front in gold lotus blossoms. She had done up her hair in tight curls "

It is my only thought that you clearly have no idea of how much of a slut you've written. It's not just make-up that makes the slut. It's the wardrobe, too. It frustrates me to see that you swear you've not written a purposely "slutty" character, but yet, that's what it seems you've made.

Don't try to hide your intentions. They're woefully obvious. Go cyber some place else, please.

Especially seeking a Shinomori Aoshi and Honjou Kamatari! Others welcome not only from the RK world, but original characters AND other fandoms as well! (i.e. Peacemaker Kurogane)

Some time has passed since the conclusion of Yukishiro Enishi's Jinchuu. With most of their friends and enemies alike following their own paths in life that took them away from Tokyo, Kenshin and Kaoru decided that it was past time for them to look toward their own future together, this time as husband and wife.

For awhile all was peaceful at the Kamiya dojo, but like the changing times of the Meiji era, that peace is never guaranteed to last forever either.

[info]himura_gumi is a post-Jinchuu Rurouni Kenshin roleplay. We are looking for players to take on the roles of some of the favorite characters from the series. The mods are committed to providing a fun and inviting atmosphere for players who want to have fun, explore characterization, plot, dialog, and expand their writing skills and expertise by writing interactively with others in this game.

[info]gumi_apps is the application community where the rules are listed on the profile page, along with the available characters! We have MANY different characters to choose from!

Since the play can range anywhere from G - NC17, you have to be at least 18 years old to join!

If you have any further questions then please email us at the address listed on the profile page. We look forward to hearing from you!

You. Please. Cut it out.

You are brand new to the com. Brand freakin' new. So new, the group that you'll be play with only has two other people in (one myself) and hasn't even spoken of plot ideas.

Now, you seem to write well. You picked an alien character, which is WONDERFUL, as this is deep space sci-fi, and we need more aliens. You've been bouncing ideas off of me, which is cool. I'm glad you want to be involved, that really is good. Hell, you've even started to make a skin for our com. Honestly, I like you - no, I freaking adore you.

But. Seriously. Stop asking to be an admin. I have no use for another staff member right now, as the game is small and manageable at this size. If I need an admin, or a mod, or whatever, I may ask you. But if you ask EVERY TIME I speak to you, it just annoys me. CUT IT OUT.

I rp over email. Recently I've had a lot of people contact me about roleplaying, set something up, then never send any posts. WHY?
The worst is when they send just the one message. "Hi, would you like to rp? (insert details here)"
"Sure!" I say. "What about (insert more details here)?"
No reply.
WHY?

Or what about the people that change email addresses and don't bother to tell you? Then three months later you get this awkward message "Oh my God! I'm so sorry I forgot about you! I changed emails and didn't tell you, lol!"

Edit: Also (general you) get my character's name right. If her name is Loraine, nicknamed Lor, don't call her Lar. If his name is Brandon don't call him Brendan. If his name is Ryan don't call him Cale (every other message, WTF?)
Worse, don't get your (general you) own character's name wrong. Zack is not interchangable with Zach. Again, Brendan is not interchangable with Brandon. And you, specific you, don't get me started on your "Domonic" that you sometimes spell "Demonic."

Some bad news (Tom Disch's death, which is a loss to the genre, plus some other things of a personal nature) matched with some good things (dinner with friends over fine wine and laughter). Thus is life, I suppose.

It was offered tonight that I am the happiest I've ever been. I suspect this is true. Which is odd, because there is still much in my life that is not what might be considered perfect... but I'm okay with the lack of perfection. I'm happy. I laugh a lot, and sigh very little.*

This, no doubt, means that my writing productivity is going to take a hit**. Damn. But the novels will still be written, because they too make me happy.

Hey, [info]fakefrenchie! Maybe you'll finally get the wished-for fluffy short story! *pauses* Nahhh...... *fanged grin*

*except when I consider politics, and the general state of the world. But I persevere, and fight for what I consider Right (which is generally but not always facing Left, yes)

**that whole "creative types must be miserable to create Art?" Has a grain of truth in it. But only a grain, thank the Universe. We must also be content within our own skins, to a certain extent. You can't create if you don't know who you are, first.

Okay, to two RPers I know, in an RP I'm still sort-of in:

When your characters are having so much sex that it becomes unintentionally hilarious, you might want to realize that not every thread can be about the two of the humping like bunnies.

Player 1 plays a teenaged guy, Player 2 plays a teeanged girl. I play as Player 1's younger teenaged brother, while Modly Person plays Player 2's younger teenaged sister.

Player 1 and 2's characters fuck like there's no tomorrow. In basically every thread. They're also cousins, for a little extra strangeness (don't ask).

Well, my character and Modly Person's character start 'fooling around', not really knowing what they;re doing. Player 1's character finds out, gets Player 2's character, and they proceed to flip out on their siblings.

For the first fifteen tags of this thread, it's Player 1 and 2 having their characters flip the fuck out on their siblings for having sex, because they're too young and are cousins and how could they.

And then, because they are so stressed out by this, their characters (who are only a year older and are, again, also cousins) go into the next room and fuck each other senseless. For the next thirty tags.

Yes, they stopped lecturing their siblings on not having cousinly sex...so that they could have cousinly sex.

Player 1 and 2 do not seem to recognize the funniness, though it has kind of become an ongoing joke for a few of us. But still. You can't have every thread turn into sex, especially ones with other characters.

And when you do it like this, you can't expect people not to find it a little funny.

I know this is off topic and mods feel free to delete it but I am in desperate need of your help BRPS.

My bf and I used to have a great skypirates rp that was on sorcery. We had over 20-30 players at the time before we shut it down due to real life getting in the way, complications, and so on, but we were wanting to bring it back. The thing is...we're wanting to bring it back somewhere other than sorcery and he and I pretty much grew -up- on sorcery so we're unaware of any other gaming venues we could go to.

BRPS, you're from all over the internet so I have to ask, where would be a good place for us to pick up our Chat-based roleplay back?

And to skirt the law and keep this On topic *shifty eyes*  Actually Ive been around a number of rpers lately in the 13-17 age range, and I'm not sure, but why exactly must they all be emo both in and out of character?  It's the most depressing stuff I've ever read, and the attention whoring has gotten -horrid-. Case in point, my BF and I had our characters snuggling in the room, amidst conversation and one of them threw a fit both ooc and IC that they couldnt join in (our reaction of course was lol what?)  and that "couple stuff" shouldnt be done in public because it made people 'feel bad" if they werent in a relationship themselves. I dont think my jaw has ever dropped so far, seeing as how 60 percent of the room was in a relationship, committed or not.  Heaven forbid our highly committed couple snuggle in front of someone in that 40 percent, or this person in particular who believes everyone should cuddle her, whether they like her chara or not.

Fireborn, anyone?

  • Jul. 6th, 2008 at 7:32 PM
Anyone here ever play or run Fireborn, from Fantasy Flight Games? I'm reading it now (picked it up on the cheap at Half-Priced Books), and I'm thinking it'd be a lot of fun, but I haven't heard a lot of chatter about it.

Experiences, good or bad?

On an unrelated note, my next character is up.

Home from the party/Chargen Day 7: NWoD

  • Jul. 6th, 2008 at 6:36 PM
The party today was for Teagan and Cael, a kind of "welcome home little brother/you're awesome big sister" thing. Family, mostly, but also [info]cjmacvath and his kiddos, and Sybil and her kiddos (two of three, anyhow). And Keith and his son. That meant the spread of children was:

Alex, 8
William, 6
Penelope, 3
Mia, 3
Teagan, 3
Gavin, not quite 1
Cael, 4 weeks

Now, that makes for an interesting afternoon. But as I mentioned the other day, imagine what our Holiday Party is going to look like in, say, 2011. Teagan will be 7, Cael will be 3, Gavin will be 4, and we know there will be at least one more cousin at that point. And that's not counting the kids that my other friends have yet to have, or kids from folks that will be there that we haven't met yet.

I love kids. I really do. I enjoy the relative peace after they leave, but I love the feeling of exhaustion that goes with spending time with them.

In other developments bordering on exhausting, I assembled the drafts of 451 into the developed files today (pre-developed, really). That last chapter, man, that's a beast. Fortunately, my authors got their drafts in on time (which happens when you give writers a reasonable amount of time to work in, rather than asking for completed drafts in 3 weeks), and if they followed their redlines, this should be golden!

And, I finished my first draft of Eww, Put it Back! today, meaning I've got no more writing until I decide to start on About Goddamn Time. But for now, it means I get to put my Mage books back on the shelf and grab my Vampire ones.

Except that today, I don't even need those, because today's installation of the chargen exercise is just making a mortal World of Darkness character.

Join me, won't you? )

FAQ that!

  • Jul. 6th, 2008 at 6:35 PM
All right, I've been promising to get a FAQ for the Cosa Nostradamus up and running... but I need to know what you guys have questions about!

(I have a few already in the hopper, but I'd like at least ten to make the list worthwhile.)

So. Here's where you ante up. Ask away. (and no, you don't need an LJ account to post!)

(after a certain point this post will be pre-dated so it always appears right under the Inevitably Incomplete Bibliography)
